Hello February! Bummer, Punxsutawney Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter! As Texans, we are not deterred and know that prediction remains to be seen! Besides, winter will be out the door before we know it and we will be happily celebrating spring.
In the meantime, you can check out this month's newsletter. If you need us we're here and ready to assist you with any of your pool needs! Here's hoping that everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season and that the start to 2022 has been excellent!
No newsletter this month, but we will be sure to post one for February and in the months to come! Here's some advice should we encounter (please Old Man Winter leave us be!) what we did earlier this year or should the temps drop below freezing. I, for one, am keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have to deal with that again!
If you still have your pool operational, make sure you run the water through the filtration system while we are under the threat of freezing temperatures. As the outside temps fall below freezing, and your pool is not winterized, make sure to run your system as long as the temps are below 32 degrees. Should you have an equipment failure or power outage that prevents you from running your system, make sure to turn the breakers off and remove all the winterizing plugs from your equipment to keep it from freezing and bursting. Every pump has a plug in the basket chamber that should be removed – including the automatic cleaner’s booster pump. The filter tank will either have a plug or a cap that needs to be removed to let the water drain out. And if you have a chlorinator, salt cell, or heater remove any plugs on them. Lastly, protect your skimmer against freeze by stuffing an empty – but with the top secured – ½ gallon milk jug or 2-liter soda bottle into the skimmer and put the skimmer lid back on. You want something collapsible that will absorb the expansion of water into ice to keep the plastic skimmer body from cracking. Just a quick reminder that it's a great time to fire up those heaters in anticipation of those cooler temps moving in. Also, since we're still in leaf season, be sure to keep those skimmer baskets emptied. While you're at it check out the link below to this month's newsletter. Want to receive it each month directly to your inbox? Give us a call at 713-665-4441 or email Kitt at accounting@sweetwaterpoolandpatio.com. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Labor Day!
We will be closed on Monday, September 6th for Labor Day and will be back in the office Tuesday, September 7th. If you're curious (or need a refresher) on the origins of Labor Day click on the link to our monthly newsletter below. Bring on the heat! As Texans, we're not worried! We're used to those long, hot summers. Ever wondered where the phrase "the dog days of summer" comes from? I have some info about that in this month's newsletter. Check out the link below and then relax pool side. Ahhh, that's more like it!
Happy Birthday, America!
It's no secret to all the pool owners out there that we're in the midst of a chlorine shortage. I've included a "Chlorine Shortage Help Sheet" in this month's newsletter. You'll find it by clicking on the link below. |
